May 2012 - last updates

Kaiser Yard Fontana

LOH32 Ontario Local (railfan nickname “The Sunkist”) Mon-Fri
(On duty 0600. Normally uses two gensets. Yards the inbound LOQ32 at Kaiser, and then builds a “city work” train at Kaiser Yard before proceeding west to the Coast Grain facility just west of the yard – the old Vina Vista. MWTh and as needed, crew continues to North Ontario to service two customers on the Sunkist Lead: Grove Lumber and Partners Alliance, who occasionally gets reefers for loading. Normally arrives at North Ontario between 1100 and 1300 but varies due to actual arrival at Kaiser of the LOQ32 train. Upon completion of work returns to Kaiser Yard with pull cars.)

LOH42 Guasti Local Sun-Thu
(On duty 1000. Normally uses three gensets. Crew builds their “city work” train at Kaiser Yard then proceeds west to service customers on the Johnson Wax and K-Mart leads. Then takes loads to Biagi Brothers the beer distributor at Guasti. The Guasti move usually occurs after 1400. Upon completion of work returns to Kaiser Yard with pull cars.)

LOH43 Declezville Local Mon-Fri
(On duty 1400. Normally uses two gensets. Crew builds their “city work” train at Kaiser Yard and then proceeds east to Declezville in South Fontana to service customers there. On TuTh this job also services the industries on the south side of the main track at Kaiser Yard. Customers include plastics plants, pipe manufacturers, and grain.)

LOH45 California Steel & Hauler Job Mon-Fri
(On duty 1830. Normally has road power. Crew builds their “city work” train at Kaiser Yard then proceeds up the Kaiser Lead to industries at the old Kaiser Steel plant including California Steel Industries. Upon completion of customer work and return to Kaiser Yard this job builds the outbound train and hauls it to the West Colton receiving yard, usually about 0100. After yarding their train, the power is taken to the departure yard to be available for the LOQ32 in the morning.)

West Colton

LOQ32 Kaiser Hauler (Inbound) Mon-Fri
LOQ32S (On duty 0600. Crew comes on duty at Kaiser and van to West Colton. Train departs east, around the balloon track at Pepper Street, proceeds west to Kaiser Yard. Scheduled West Colton departure is 0900. Usually will use the last LOH45’s power. An extra hauler is called on Sundays using train symbol LOQ32S.)

May 2012 - Additional Updates - Mojave

West Colton/Mojave

LOQ91 Mojave Flyer Tues-Thu-Sat
(On duty early AM. Moves manifest freight from West Colton to Mojave. Leaves West Colton before dawn. Heads up the Mojave Sub, over Cajon Pass, arriving at Mojave between 0800 and 1000.)

Mojave (LOP81 is now LOP51, LOP83 is now LOP53)

LOP51 Mojave Local Daily
(On duty 0800. Heads over to the Chaffee siding north of the yard and brings back the LOP 83 when it is left there. Otherwise, work Mojave Yard and run to the cement plant in Creal on the Oak Creek Industrial Lead.)

LOP53 Monolith Local Daily
(On duty 1400. Works the tank farm up the Lone Pine Sub. Goes to Monolith on MWF to work the cement plant east of Tehachapi. Heads south on TuThSa to Antelope Valley with tank cars for the old Great Lakes Carbon Lead as well as the tank car farm just south of Mojave. Sometimes their work will be done by an MMJMJ, especially the Monolith runs.)

LOP82 Lone Pine Local Daily
(On duty 1600. Runs up the Lone Pine Sub to Searles to interchange with the Trona. Most of the time returns to Mojave about midnight. Can run in the morning on Saturday and Sunday if needed. Crew can be used on OTNLB if needed.)

LOP92 Mojave Flyer Mon-Wed-Fri
(On duty early morning. Mojave to West Colton hauler. Originates in Mojave and runs with whatever cars are needed to West Colton. Can be built by an MMJMJ and then be left at Ansel or Fleta for a road crew.)

MMJMJ Mojave Yard Transfer As needed (most days)
(On duty whenever needed. Builds long trains so the road crew will not have to do all the doubling over and air testing for the Flyer LOP92 and takes the train out to Ansel or Fleta. Can also break up inbound LOQ91. Two MMJMJs can work at the same time if traffic warrants.)

(Appears to be a Shuttlewagon at the Creal plant at the end of the Oak Creek Lead. Shuttlewagon is past the gate and does not appear accessible.)

May 2012 Updates

Kaiser

L-CAL0031 Pasadena Local Mon-Fri
(On duty 0846. After building their train, head to Pomona, and work between Gary and Fulton. Often stop for lunch between 1030 and 1200 in San Dimas or Glendora. Usually arrives westbound in Irwindale between 1300 and 1400, but can be much earlier, especially on Tuesdays, or much later. If early, seems to wait west of brewery until 1300 before switching. Heads east between 1500 and 1600. If they have a car for Metropolitan Water District they head up the MWD spur in La Verne.)

City of Industry

ACICI Auto Hauler Sat-Mon
On duty 1003. Runs autoracks from City of Industry to West Colton, to Mira Loma, and back to City of Industry. Call time may be wrong, as has been spotted about 1800. Also possible this is an extra.)

Oxnard

LOF63 Oxnard Local/Santa Paula Local Mon-Fri
(On duty 0600, usually done working by 1200. Can make a run up the Montalvo Industrial Lead, usually on Tu or Thu, but possible any day with Tuesday as the best bet. Also serves local industries around Oxnard, including the Proctor & Gamble Lead in Leesdale, south to Hagle Spur in Camarillo for International Paper and Hagle Lumber, and north to Ventura on the Santa Barbara Sub.)

(At Dice and the UP tracks, have one blue, small Trackmobile on the northeast end of their spur where it is deep on their property and impossible to see from the street.)
